What is the EU CAP Network and how does it support modern agriculture?

The EU CAP Network is an initiative set up by the European Commission to strengthen collaboration and knowledge sharing across the agri-food sector. It acts as a “knowledge community,” bringing together all stakeholders involved in agriculture, forestry, and rural development, and contributing to a more modern and efficient farming system.

This network supports the exchange of knowledge, experience, and good practices among farmers, researchers, advisors, businesses, and public authorities. Its aim is to improve the flow of information, foster innovation, research, and digitalisation, and promote environmental, economic, and social sustainability across the agri-food sector.

The EU CAP Network also plays a key role in supporting the design and implementation of CAP Strategic Plans, while contributing to their monitoring and evaluation through studies, briefs, and analytical reports. It helps bridge the gap between research and practice by facilitating knowledge transfer to farmers, notably by supporting initiatives such as EIP-AGRI and the AKIS approach.

In addition, the network organises workshops, seminars, and online events that encourage collaboration, peer-to-peer learning, and the dissemination of innovative practices in agriculture.

Each EU Member State has its own National CAP Network, which provides information on projects, activities, and funding opportunities at national level. More information can be found through the respective networks in Greece, as well as in Belgium, where separate networks operate in Flanders and Wallonia.

Overall, the EU CAP Network contributes to making European agriculture more sustainable, competitive, and resilient, supporting the transition towards a greener, more innovative, and more collaborative agri-food system.
