Maria João Rodrigues is the Chair of Re-Imagine Europa’s Advisory Board.
Former Portuguese Minister and former MEP, member of the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament. She was final negotiator of the Lisbon Treaty and has been a central architect of the European social and economic agenda over the past twenty-five years.
Starting with the Lisbon Strategy, which set Europe’s first comprehensive agenda for the knowledge economy, she has since served as special advisor to EU Presidencies, European Council and European Commission on competitiveness, innovation and social policy and on EU strategic partnerships.
She is the EU member of the T20 Advisory Council Coordination Team supporting the G20 agenda.
In academic terms, she is full professor of European economic policies and was the chair of the European Commission Advisory Board for Socio-economic Research.
