After working for the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for more than twenty years, Dr. Tachikawa has joined the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University, Japan. His major is sociology, and STS (science/technology and society) studies. He has been watching at regulatory issues of biotechnology and other emerging technologies, and their implications to food system and society as a whole. He has published several books and many journal articles, mainly focusing on genetically modified and gene edited crops from a social science viewpoint.
