Stephanie Hampton Portrait

Dr Stephanie Hampton is Division Director for the National Science Foundation’s Division of Environmental Biology, which supports U.S. scientists doing basic research in ecology and evolutionary biology. Dr Hampton received her B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Kansas, her M.S. in Biology from University of Nevada, and her PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Dartmouth College.

Her scientific background is in freshwater biology, statistical analysis, and environmental informatics. Working at the National Science Foundation since May 2018, she also continues to serve as a Professor in the School of Environment at Washington State University, where her research has included analyzing long-term environmental data collected from lakes as globally diverse as Lake Baikal in Siberia and Lake Washington in Seattle.
