On Monday 12 March, President Giscard d’Estaing addressed the Institute de France – Academie des Sciences Morales at Politiques on the subject of the relationship between public opinion and power.
Starting from the ancient Greek philosophers thoughts on the topic, looking at France’s experience between regimes where power was concentrated in the hands of the Head-of-State to periods where public opinion reigned, to today’s changing media landscape.
The address anticipated some of the topics that will be touched upon later this month during his address at the OECD event on Social Media.
