Today when talking about Europe, we immediately think about Brussels and the buildings hosting EU institutions: these images often prevent us from remembering that Europe is much more.
Europe is its peoples, its diversity, its creativity, its historical, artistic, and landscape heritage, its openness, its tolerance, but also its wars, its tragedies and its shameful events. All this contributed to create a model of society and a way of life. The EU needs changes and improvements, but when we look at Europe with this broader perspective, it is much easier to understand why it is worth defending this project.
