Mr René Custers has been active in the societal implications of modern biotechnology from the start of his career in 1992. Biosafety is one of the major topics he is involved in, but the scope of his activities goes way beyond that. He is for instance also involved in bio-ethical issues and research integrity. His goal is to contribute to the education of responsible scientists and to contribute to a science based, responsible development and sustainable use of products and services resulting from life sciences and modern biotechnology.
