Governance
Re-Imagine Europa (RIE) is a non-profit association (AISBL) established under Belgian law. We are committed to the highest standards of transparency and ethical management to ensure our work remains a trusted resource for European policymakers and citizens.
Re-Imagine Europa operates as a transnational, non-partisan think tank. Our governance structure is designed to safeguard our independence and facilitate a collaborative, evidence-based approach to the challenges facing 21st-century Europe.
Institutional Framework
The General Assembly is the supreme governing body of the Association, composed of all our members. It holds the broadest powers to achieve the organization’s objectives, including:
- Approving the annual budget and accounts.
- Appointing and removing members of the Steering Committee.
- Amending the Association’s Statutes.
- Defining the long-term strategic direction of the organization.
The Steering Committee is responsible for the management and administration of the Association. It ensures that our activities align with our founding values of equality, solidarity, and human dignity.
To maintain our interdisciplinary and evidence-based approach, Re-Imagine Europa is supported by an Advisory Board. This body brings together diverse expertise from across Europe—including former heads of state, leading academics, and civil society pioneers—to provide high-level guidance on our research and dialogue initiatives.
Funding & Financial Sustainability
To safeguard our autonomy, Re-Imagine Europa maintains a transparent and diversified funding model. Our financial resources are managed with strict adherence to the non-profit purpose of the association.
Our activities are funded through a combination of public and private sources:
- European Institutions (60%): Our primary support comes from competitive grants (e.g. Horizon Europe) and project-specific funding from EU bodies.
- Foundations (30%): We partner with philanthropic organizations dedicated to social and economic progress in Europe.
- Other public & Private Institutions (10%): This includes contributions from national agencies, academic partners, and mission-aligned private entities.
Re-Imagine Europa maintains a No-Strings-Attached policy. Funding sources do not influence our research methodology, the selection of experts, or the final conclusions of our reports.
