Our vision

Re-Imagine Europa was established by President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing as a decisive response to the systemic disruptions threatening the European project. Guided by our founder’s conviction that diversity is not Europe’s weakness, but its most formidable strength, we are redefining the European narrative—building a continent that is not only resilient to change but capable of leading it.

Working alongside a broad spectrum of societal actors, we strive to heal the deep structural fractures caused by the geopolitical, environmental, and technological upheavals of the 21st century. By fostering a high-level ecosystem of visionary thinkers and strategic leaders, we aim to move beyond our fragmented present toward a unified and purposeful future. We believe Europe’s path to global leadership lies in its ability to pioneer new standards in democratic practice, environmental sustainability, and digital ethics.

In an age defined by the erosion of institutional trust, RIE offers a clear alternative: progress through collective intelligence. By prioritizing long-term strategic vision over short-term fixes, we transform multi-dimensional crises into opportunities for profound innovation. We recognize that today’s challenges are the byproduct of a fundamental paradigm shift—triggered by the digital revolution and accelerated by the advent of Artificial Intelligence.

Our Blueprint for Change, authored by Professor Manuel Castells and RIE’s Chief Executive Erika Staël von Holstein, provides a rigorous analysis of the trends that have outpaced our current narratives. Because existing solutions often rely on outdated frameworks, we propose a reimagined Europe built on the shared values and common identity that define our collective history. The achievements of post-war Europe—a dynamic economy anchored by social security and regional leveling—remain our greatest legacy. As new technologies redefine the human experience, we are dedicated to rethinking how these principles are realized today, ensuring the digital transition serves the public good rather than deepening social divides.

We do not claim to hold ready-made solutions, but we do hold a firm conviction: progress is impossible in a climate of blame. We reject the divisive rhetoric that narrows the scope of political action at the very moment the world requires it most.

At Re-Imagine Europa, we invite you to move beyond polarized discourse and join a shared project of the imagination. Together, we can bridge the gap between what is and what could be.

Let us start imagining. Together, we can make a difference.
