Climate
Climate change is the defining challenge of our century, carrying far-reaching consequences that ripple across Europe and the globe. Extreme weather and biodiversity loss are no longer distant threats; they are lived realities that affect our communities unevenly, deepening existing social and economic inequalities. Addressing this crisis requires more than just urgent policy – it demands a deeper understanding of how people perceive, experience, and respond to a changing world.
Transition to a sustainable future must be inseparable from social fairness and democratic engagement. To be successful, policies aimed at reducing emissions and protecting our natural heritage must resonate with the people they serve. This means bridging the gap between scientific evidence, policy frameworks, and public awareness, ensuring that climate action is not only effective but widely understood and supported.
Re-Imagine Europa (RIE) approaches climate as a cultural and societal matter, not just an environmental one. Through our flagship initiatives, we explore the vital intersection of climate science, human behavior, and public discourse. Groundbreaking research delivered by the RIE’s led European Narratives Observatory (NODES) shows how narratives about climate are often weaponized in the social and political discourses, fostering polarisation and stalling progress.
Furthermore, by collaborating with pioneering EU-funded research like Neuroclima, we apply the latest insights in behavioral science to understand the cognitive drivers of climate action. Our goal is to foster a more inclusive, informed, and transformative European response by helping our society find a common language for change.
