Digital Democracy

Digital technologies are reshaping how democratic participation takes place in Europe, from how citizens engage with public issues to how they interact with institutions. At RIE we are focused on strengthening digital democracy by developing and supporting more participatory and deliberative forms of engagement. This is reflected in formats where citizens can take part in structured dialogue, contribute to discussions on public issues and engage directly with policymakers.

We collaborate with European institutions, research projects and civil society organisations to test and scale these approaches across different contexts, combining digital tools with participatory methods and co-creation processes to make participation more accessible and inclusive across languages and communities, and in turn support more transparent, responsive and citizen-centred democratic processes that are better adapted to today’s
