In a world shaped by war, climate change, rising prices, and growing social divides, people are rethinking what it means to feel secure. Yet, too often, policies are made without a clear sense of what truly matters to citizens in their everyday life.
Under the EU research project ORBIS, we’re running a European digital dialogue on security: what makes you feel safe, what concerns you, and what needs to change.
This dialogue is open to citizens of all ages and backgrounds. Your perspective is essential to help shape a shared vision of security in Europe. Join now to share your views and help define what safety and security mean today.

How to Join?
The process unfolds in three online steps, from an initial survey to deeper discussions, collective voting, and a final event where participants can see the results of their contributions.
Step 3: Final Online Feedback and Voting on Democratic Reflection
📅 25/11 – 25/12
Throughout this multi-step deliberative process, we have identified key concerns and gathered concrete proposals — all of which are summarised in a video on Democratic Reflection platform.
👉 We now invite you to share your feedback: please watch the video (ENG), react, and vote on the recommendations here.
Your insights will feed into a policy roundtable on 23 January, led by CEPS, as part of the CEPS Young Thinkers Final Event.
Step 2: Digital Dialogue on BCause [closed]
📅14/10 – 24/10
We invited citizens across Europe to reflect and answer 3 discussion groups online:
- Bridging the Gap with Politicians – How can leaders truly hear and act on citizens’ needs?
- Life in Uncertainty – If you could improve one thing in your daily life, what would it be?
- Free Speech and Social Division – How can we restore respectful dialogue online and offline, while protecting free speech?
👉 Access the Discussion Groups (EN) here.
💻 Please access the platform from a laptop or desktop computer. Mobile devices are not yet supported.
Step 1: Quick Survey on Polis Orbis [closed]
📅15/09 – 25/09
We asked citizens across Europe: What does it mean to feel safe — today and tomorrow? From their responses, three key challenges emerged. These will be explored in Step 2 of our online deliberation.

About the Initiative
This initiative is part of the experimental phase of the EU-funded research project ORBIS (Augmenting participation, co-creation, trust and transparency in deliberative democracy), which aims at making policymaking more inclusive. Its technology is boosted by Artificial Intelligence to analyse and visualize discourse around challenging topics, helping us identify common ground where restart the public debate on our future.
