Szymon P. Malinowski
Full Professor at the University of Warsaw
Professor Szymon P. Malinowski is a leading European authority on atmospheric physics and one of Poland’s most influential voices in the fight against climate change. A corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), he currently serves as the Chair of the Committee on the Climate Crisis at the PAN Presidium, where he coordinates high-level scientific advisory for national and European policy.
Professor Malinowski served as the Director of the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Warsaw (2016–2024), where he continues to lead groundbreaking research. His technical expertise focuses on cloud physics, atmospheric turbulence, and numerical modeling—critical components in understanding the speed and scale of global warming.
He is the co-founder and president of the Climate Education Foundation and the editor-in-chief of Nauka o Klimacie (Climate Science), the premier Polish portal dedicated to debunking climate disinformation. His commitment to public transparency was famously captured in the 2020 documentary It’s Okay to Panic, which established him as a key figure in the “human-centric” climate movement.
