NODES (Narrative Observatory to fight Disinformation in Europe Systematically) is a pilot project co-funded by the European Commission, to research the impact of disinformation in the public debate around three major topics: climate change, COVID-19 and migration.
The main objective of NODES is to develop a novel large-scale mechanism to analyse and monitor the origin, development, and spread of narratives classified as “disinformation”. In addition, NODES aims to provide quantitative and qualitative data on the narrative approach to disinformation and misinformation, concrete recommendations for future policy action, and novel practices.
Climate, COVID-19, and migration are multifaceted and complex topics that are continuously influenced by countless factors. Shaped by diverse perspectives, debates on these three phenomena are intricate and often polarised. As public discussions are becoming increasingly divided, bridging polarised narratives becomes essential to build a more resilient and informed community. This session will disclose the scientific findings and narrative analysis of the NODES project on climate, Covid-19, and migration in relation to disinformation. The event will introduce narrative bridges promoting constructive dialogues acknowledging the nuances of perceptions and the common patterns between all three debates.
