Europe Day 2026: Building a Sovereign and Resilient Union
Robert Schuman’s vision was forged in the shadow of industrial conflict; our vision must be forged in the complexities of the digital and geostrategic age. As we mark Europe Day 2026, we are standing at a historic crossroads where the European project is being tested by the convergence of growing geostrategic friction, economic realignment, and a technological revolution that is fundamentally rewriting the social contract.
At Re-Imagine Europa, we are dedicated to designing the blueprint for a sovereign, resilient, and competitive Europe -one that does not simply weather the global storm, but defines the horizon. In 2026, the mandate for Europe is clear: building up Europe’s strategic autonomy to guarantee a future of shared prosperity and peace.
A significant portion of the battle for sovereignty is being fought in the field of digital infrastructure. We believe AI must be anchored in European ethics—serving as a tool for social cohesion rather than a driver of division. We therefore are supporting an European-led human-centric digital future through several projects that include an ambitious partnership with GeSI to launch the Global AI Impact Network,
This commitment to technological independence has been further solidified by our recent role in launching the European Network for Technological Resilience and Sovereignty (ETRS). Alongside our peers in the European think-tank community, we are building the intellectual and strategic framework necessary to ensure our continent remains a master of its own technological destiny.
Resilience from Soil to Science
True autonomy begins at the most granular level. Our work on Food Systems and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is focused on a singular goal: ensuring Europe can feed itself sustainably while leading the global green transition. We cannot have political sovereignty without food security.
Simultaneously, our efforts in Global Health and the reimagining of Official Development Assistance (ODA) seek to bridge the gap between European prosperity and global stability. By collaborating with world-class partners like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and “la Caixa” Foundation and the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, among others, we are addressing systemic vulnerabilities before they become crises.
A Seat at the Global Table
Europe’s internal strength must be matched by its external influence. As the European representative for the T20 (Think 20) in support of the G20, Re-Imagine Europa is ensuring that our values of fairness and multilateralism are embedded in the global agenda. Furthermore, our partnership with the allows us to turn these high-level ideas into the policy machinery that drives the Union forward.
