Re-Imagine Europa intervenes in the Global Solutions Summit by bringing an EU voice to the T20
At the 10th anniversary Global Solutions Summit in Berlin, Maria João Rodrigues, Chairwoman of Re-Imagine Europa and of the T20 EU High-Level Group, joined international policy leaders to discuss how research and cooperation can help address shared global challenges and shape the future of global cooperation. As the EU representative on the coordination team of the T20 U.S. Advisory Council, she also contributed to the Council’s launch during the summit.
Held under the theme “Finding Common Ground in a Fractured World,” the summit brought together policymakers, researchers and practitioners to consider how international cooperation can respond to geopolitical tensions and complex challenges. Discussions ranged from economic security, energy and development finance to climate action, digital transformation and global governance.
At the Advisory Council launch, Rodrigues presented her policy solutions paper, A New Growth Model Driven by Digital Transformation and AI, on how the G20 can help countries harness digital transformation to generate on how artificial intelligence and digital transformation can help drive a new model of growth. She highlighted the importance of governing these technologies in ways that support prosperity and respond to different countries’ economic and social contexts. The session also explored how concise, practical policy proposals can better meet policymakers’ needs and help turn international dialogue into action.
The Council’s work is intended to connect research and policy advice with G20 priorities. Its members will develop policy solutions and provide feedback on ideas for strengthening follow-through, including possible tools to support longer-term implementation. Participants also discussed the value of better coordination between international initiatives on AI governance.
The Berlin discussions underscored the role of the T20 in bringing evidence and ideas into global policy debates. For Re-Imagine Europa, Rodrigues’ participation creates a further link between the work of the T20 EU High-Level Group and the wider international network, as Europe prepares to engage with the next phase of the G20 process.
